Soundings in Post-Secularism: Habermas and his Interlocutors

German polymath Jürgen Habermas is a leading systematic philosopher. This review essay does not take Habermas whole but will take a few soundings from representative works on the recent theme of ‘post-secularism’ with which Habermas, oft-named ‘the pope of European secularism’, is now associated. It proposes that Habermas’ immense interdisciplinary contributions and journey towards a more post-secular philosophy and sociology provide resources for critically and constructively engaging the more theologically tone-deaf, as well as those with triumphalist notions of post-secularism leaving secularism behind.
