David Lyon on Surveillance

ABC presenter, Natasha Mitchell opens her interview with Prof Lyon by asking questions about the pervasive erosion of privacy today:
"When you go online, banking, keeping in touch, filling in forms...how mindful are you about your privacy? Or if you're in a public space does it niggle at you that your every move is being recorded on a CCTV camera."
How is the new world of surveillance changing our society and what might it mean for protecting the dignity of people, particularly the more vulnerable, in our midst? Is a return to a more public way of life possibly a good thing? What should we think and do with this cultural shift as Christians? Professor David Lyon helps us begin to identify the scope and nature of the surveillance and privacy issues confronting us.
